Cary 50 has been replaced

The Cary 50 UV-vis spectrometer has been out of service due to computer issues; the age of the system and the proprietary interface card make it quite difficult to support the instrument on modern computer hardware.

The good news is that we’ve been able to replace the Cary 50 with a Cary 60 spectrometer! The two instruments and their software are sufficiently similar that no retraining will be needed for those who have been trained to operate the Cary 50.

The Cary 60 host computer is on the network so you’ll need to log in with your university credentials in order to operate the instrument. Remember to turn the instrument on (the software will clue you in) and please turn the instrument (not the computer) off when you have finished.

Happy research!
