All instrument use is by reservation; with the reservation system now automated, users are able to submit a reservation request at any time of day and receive a prompt response. Remember that instrument training is required prior to being able to reserve and use an instrument.
Here are the steps to make a reservation.
- Check the instrument calendar to make sure that the instrument you wish to use is available. Note that reservations which span multiple days show as a small bar across the top of the days of the reservation – this is a quirk of Google Calendar and is out of our control, so please look closely!
- Having made sure that the instrument you wish to use is available, complete the reservation request form.
- Your request should include all the time you will use, including instrument warm-up (and cool-down where applicable), sample analysis, and data analysis time. (To save on instrument time, you may wish to do some of the analysis at your own computer – we’ve posted some recommendations for software that you can use.)
- You should receive a prompt email reply to your reservation request. Do not just assume that your request has been honored; please read the email.
- When your reservation request is successful, remember to be on-time for your reservation; do not start early or stay late without sending a variance request by email to Dr. Leigh.
